I've got a Hamer that needs some fret work done on it.

"Best" is suggestive and it depends on what you need done. On your Hamer fretwork There is a guy that works out of the back of Bend Pawn that is supposed to be great on solid bodies. A couple of friends have taken him stuff and he did great work for a good price. I haven't taken anything to him but I would if I needed something. There's 3 or 4 other luthiers around here that are also good but I have no experience with them. Maybe someone else knows?

I take my stuff to Peter Heithoff at Bend Instrument Repair. He's done very good work for me.

I thought Peter only did acoustic instruments. I've heard great thing about him from a folk buddy of mine. He fixed some bracing on his Martin and got rid of a buzz that had been driving him crazy.

He does really good fret work. That's mostly what I have him do for me.

I have a buzzy Breedlove that I am going to take to him. It sounds bad on the B and E above the 10th frets.

Maybe this should be moved to Instruments and Gear?

Peter has done great fret work for me on several electrics and acoustics. I am real happy with his work. Find him at Bend Instrument Repair on Greenwood

Peter completely restored my Dad's '47 Martin and it turned out amazing. It had 2 holes in the back, needed new bridge, nut, frets, neck reset, etc. So it was a major project, yet it plays perfectly. And knowing the emotional attatchment I had to this guitar, he surprised me Christmas night by delivering it to me at my house! Who does that! I'd highly recommend him.

Peter is the best. He has done all manner of things for me, and it was, and is, always with care. Beside the fact that he is a great human being.

I have had Peter Heithoff do setup and repairs small and huge to 4 different guitars acoustic and electric and a bass. From small stuff I was too lazy to mess with to refretting an entire guitar this guy is as good or better than anyone in the northwest!
We are lucky he is here locally, not to mention he is always helpful with answering questions for things you might want to learn to do yourself.

Is he expensive? I need a Ovation with a busted head fixed, and while it has snetimental value, I'm not really willing to sink $$$ into it right now.
